Academic Magery

Academic magery is the most wide-spread (and possibly oldest) forms of magic in the world. It is, as the name suggests, an academic practice involving years of study, usually in established university programs, though smaller, more limited schools do exist in most places. Some schools of magic, i.e., necromancy, are considered forbidden arts, especially by the Pater Dios. Regional laws apply, and some schools may be unavailable in many areas.

There are two primary forms of Academic Magery; Invokers, who draw their energy and powers from the cosmos at large, and Evokers, who draw the energy from themselves. They have differing domains and required advantages, but their practice is relatively common and not mutually exclusive, an academic mage may draw spells from both the Colleges of Invocation and Evocation, provided he has the required advantages for each.
