What’s your name?
Terrence Sykes. I guess you can call me Terry if you want?
How did you survive until now?
I mostly hung out with one of the older members of the school band I used to play in, before it all went to uh, to hell, you know? He... never really made it to the sleep thing, we ended up in a bad situation and he didn't make it... out, you know? I still miss him, pretty bad. Anyway, after that happened I just sorta wandered around and eventually met up with Vance and Julie. We've sorta went around together since then providing entertainment for shelter and food and stuff. Even nowadays people tend to want a little entertainment, and music from times gone by can provide that sometimes. It's nice seeing people smile even during all this. I've sorta picked up how to play an acoustic guitar from Julie, and Vance is teaching me how to sing as well. It's pretty nice for how stuff is nowadays, all things considered.
Have you been a member of the group for a long time and, if not, how did you join?
I've been with Julie and Vance probably... I dunno, 3 years maybe? A while before we all came here, and we've only been here maybe a year? Or two? I don't really try to keep track of dates anymore. I don't wanna know when my time's going to be up. I'd rather get to bed one night without knowing I ain't gonna wake back up.
How do you feel about piloting an ANIMa?
I can help by doing this, right? Bring a little peace of mind, maybe. Perhaps someday those things'll retreat and everyone will wake up, right? I mean, probably not, but it's worth a try, isn't it? If we all give up and people do wake up again someday, then they'd probably be pretty depressed to see we all rolled over and just died. Right? Plus, I can at least do something to help keep the few precious people I have left safe.
Why are you a pilot?
Because it's something to do that can maybe make a big difference down the line. If I can help keep even one little area safe till I die or fall asleep, it's kinda worth the danger, you know? I just really don't wanna give up on it all, and this certainly seems like a good way to be defiant towards all that bad crap out there.
