WBSR Astrophysical Survey of the Farr System

The Farr system is located in the Cerebus Outzone. The system is near only a few translight corridors, which limits the amount of traffic entering the area. The system consists of eight planets, two asteroid belts, and two stars. The primary star is yellow, while the second star is a Dark star. This unusual star has a large concentration of dark matter in it which colors it nearly black. Detection of the dark star is done by measuring the gravity effect of the star. This second star is thought to be the cause of the high number of Ashen Star effects that occur in this area.. The planets primarily revolved around the yellow star, while the dark star maintains a perpendicular orbit around the yellow star and planets that orbit it.

Planetary Data

Planet-1 (Char)

Planet closest to yellow star. Its an atmosphere lacking world with a pitted landscape and a scorched surface. This planet has a small population of people who live in underground bunkers. The population of this planet mostly consists of miners exploiting the material wealth of the planet and scientists studying the planet and the yellow star. No moons.

Inner Asteroid belt

This is a belt of asteroids and minor planetoids. It is situated between the first and second planets. The space between objects in this asteroid belt is very close making navigation through it a complex task. The Inner Asteroid belt is a known haven for the pirates and those wishing to hide from authorities.

Planet-2 (Green house)

Around a hundred years ago a Combine science colony tried to increase the agricultural potential of this planet. It had a warm atmosphere, a lot of flat land, and plenty of available moisture. The scientists tested several terraforming techniques on the planet. Due to some unknown error or unforeseen complication, plants grew at an exponential rate. At first this seemed to be an unexpected boon, but the plant life grew too fast and began to affect operations. Plants began to interfere with machines the scientists relied on. When the rampant growth of the plants began to affect the living conditions on the planet (Increasing humidity, affecting machines the population relied on to survive, and growing over everything); the population began to evacuate the planet. Attempts were made to curtail the plant growth, but trying to maintain a permanent presence on the planet ended up being too costly. Several small outposts still exist on the planet, but for the most part it is covered with a thick canopy of vegetation (which even extends into its oceans). Two small airless moons.

Planet-3 (Kee-ik-ek)

A multi-biome type of planet. The dominant life form is sapient giant spiders. Most of them are wild with minimal intelligence. A minority of these spiders became intelligent enough to start a civilization. This culture of intelligent spiders is reaching 20th Century level of technology and has been visited by space faring races. The other spiders lurk outside of the sapient spiders’ cities. They resemble Earth spiders, but are at the smallest human sized. Three moons with very thin atmospheres, no advanced life forms on them.

Planet-4 (Greenhaven)

This planet has 60% land and 20% water covering its surface. There’s been little volcanic/tectonic activity as well. The result is a planet with a lot of arable space. A lot of farms were established here to produce food for people in the star system. The Xenag Corporation owns most of the farms on this planet. The planet has one major city on it as well as small outposts scattered around it.

Singapore

In orbit around Greenhaven is one of the most important locations in the Farr system. The Singapore station is a massive space outpost that acts as the government for the system as well as the clearinghouse for Laser contracts. Laser crews who work in this system normally base themselves out of the Singapore station. Due to the system’s government being on this station, the station has attracted a wide assortment of merchants, scientists, and others who want to be at the center of power of the system. There is one moon in orbit around the planet as well, it is airless. This moon is used as storage for Singapore station.

Planet-5 (Vada)

The primary geographical feature of this planet is the desert sands which covers the world. The surface of the planet has high velocity winds blowing sand around as well, which makes living on the surface less than ideal. Underneath the surface the planet is riddled with tunnels. These tunnels are home to the planet’s sapient colonists as well as flora and fauna that have adapted to live underground.Various kinds of fungi provide food for the animals that roam the tunnels underneath the surface. Some colonies on the world cultivate fungi for a food source. No moons.

Planet-6 (Victory)

A planet in the early stages of planetary formation. It resembles the Earth during the Precambrian era. During the Mohilar war near the end of the war, a massive Combine military force assembled on this planet. They were attacked by the Mohilar. The military force suffered severe casualties. Data on the battle is scarce and the survivors remember little except the feeling that they won the battle. The planet got renamed Victory because of the survivors believing they inflicted a severe loss on the Mohilar. Now the planet is home to a memorial to the battle and many space ship hulks that have been left on the planet’s surface. Since the battle, the planet has been used as a junk yard of old and useless ships. This planet once had two moons, but both of those have been destroyed. In their place is a ring of debris around the planet.

Outer Asteroid belt

This is the second circle of asteroids and minor planetoids situated between the sixth and eighth planets. Unlike the other asteroid belt, the objects that make up this belt are spaced far enough apart that it is only a minor hassle for navigating. Several mining operations work in this area.

Planet-8 (Barro)

Ice planet with a thin atmosphere. Half covered by ice and snow are ruins of an unknown civilization. The ruins are spread over the entire planet and many haven’t been explored yet. There are a couple of settlements on this planet studying the planet. At this moment the planet has no useful resources. No moons.

Planet-9 (Nome)

Similar to Barro, this is an ice planet with a thin atmosphere. Unlike that other world, geological surveys have found valuable minerals on this world. This world lies next to the primary translight corridor that connects this system to the Palatine cluster. This planet has no moons, but it does have a space station in orbit. The station’s name is Anchor. Its the first and last stop for most people traveling through the system.
