Stars (Vesmir)
Stars are formed of liquid fire known as phlogiston, a powerful source of magic that grants life to the planets that orbit each star. There are different types of stars that produce different colours of light, and each one has their own special climates.
Contents
Yellow Star
Yellow stars are the most common, and produce a temperate climate. The aether around them is comfortably warm, and the planets range from ice at the poles to jungles and deserts at the equator. The planets and asteroids in yellow star systems are usually full of metals, making them popular for mining expeditions.
As an area of environmental danger, being out in the aether in a yellow star system has an Endurance DC of 18.
Orange Star
Orange stars are much warmer than yellow stars, and produce a desert-like climate. The aether around them is hot and full of dust, and all the planets are either sandy or rocky wastelands from pole to pole. They are generally quite inhospitable, but many orange stars were yellow stars many eons ago, meaning that lost cities could be sunken beneath the sands of the planets there.
As an area of environmental danger, being out in the aether in an orange star systems has an Endurance DC of 22.
Red Star
Red stars are the hottest type of star, and produce a volcanic-like climate. The aether around them is scorchingly hot, and all the planets have vast oceans of lava. They are harsh and unsuitable for most forms of life, but the fantastic heat upon the surface of the planets can produce gigantic gemstones and rivers of precious metals.
When in a red star system, you gain a +2 climate bonus to damage rolls when you use a power that has the fire keyword.
As an area of environmental danger, being out in the aether in a red star system has an Endurance DC of 26.
Blue Star
Blue stars are cool and produce an oceanic climate. The aether is thick and damp with heavy mists, and all the planets are covered in oceans. Some even have planets made entirely out of water.
When in a blue star system, you gain a +2 climate bonus to damage rolls when you use a power that has the thunder or lightning keywords.
As an area of environmental danger, being out in the aether in a blue star system has an Endurance DC of 18.
Green Star
Green stars are a little warmer than yellow stars and produce a jungle climate. The aether is full of space-dwelling plants, and some green star systems will have no planets at all, just a colossal forest of giant trees growing from asteroids. Any green star planet will be covered in forests and jungles, and full of all kinds of animals.
When in a green star system, you gain a +2 climate bonus to damage rolls when you use a power that has the primal keyword.
As an area of environmental danger, being out in the aether in a green star system has an Endurance DC of 21.
Violet Star
Violet stars are cool and give off very dim light. They are stars nearing the end of their lifespan, small and burning out. They produce a desolate climate, with dead planets that are crumbling into debris. Many of the planets lack atmosphere, making violet stars scarcely worth investigating.
When in a violet star system, you gain a +2 climate bonus to damage rolls when you use a power that has the necrotic or acid keyword.
As an area of environmental danger, being out in the aether in a violet star system has an Endurance DC of 36.
White Star
White stars give out very little heat, and produce an arctic climate. The aether is freezing cold and full of colossal icebergs and comets. All planets suffer from a never-ending ice age. Perhaps eons ago, white stars were once hospitable, and so some of the planets may hold lost civilisations within their wintery grasp.
When in a white star system, you gain a +2 climate bonus to damage rolls when you use a power that has the cold keyword.
As an area of environmental danger, being out in the aether in a white star system has an Endurance DC of 26.
Black Star
Black stars give out almost no light at all, and produce a nocturnal climate. The aether is thick and cloying, and it is hard to see anything. Black star planets are shrouded in eternal night, and are full of dark creatures that shun the light. They are typically unexplored due to their dangerous nature.
When in a black star system, you gain a +2 climate bonus to damage rolls when you use a power that has the necrotic or shadow keyword.
As an area of environmental danger, being out in the aether in a black star system has an Endurance DC of 30.
