Ship-to-Ship (Vesmir)
Tackling other ships is often vital for survival, eliminating pirates or hostile alien races intent on invasion. Spaceships can be disabled in a number of ways, using the ship's weapons or boarding the ship.

Crippling Ships
Destroying Vital Systems
Some ships have grip-generators which can fail, or engines that explode under too much stress. While sustained attacks can break these systems, there are specific weapons and upgrades that can do this.
Opening the Hull
When a spaceship is bloodied, the hull has lost enough structural stability that it opens up. If this takes the crew aboard unaware, they can suffocate and the ship quickly becomes crippled. In addition to this, boarders can make the jump from their ship to their enemy's and gain access through the hole in the hull. However, a ship that has been significantly weakened in this way may be a floating deathtrap.
Boarding Ships
Disabling Systems
Once aboard a ship, boarders can engage in a skill challenge to disable systems. By deactivating the engine, grip-generator and weapons, they can make things easier for themselves and their comrades. Perhaps if their ship is the one taking a battering, they can turn the tide of the fight. Deactivating parts of a ship is a Machinery check.
Gaining Control
Merely storming the bridge does not always work when it comes to controlling a ship. Sometimes the engines are controlled directly through the engine room, and the crew can barricade themselves in there and set about sending the ship towards armed allies who can mount a rescue.
Fighting in a ship is a pitched battle, with corridors and access shafts allowing each side to cut the other off and circle round. The crew have a distinct advantage, knowing their ship intimately, and can even rig machinery to act as traps for unwary boarders.
