The Horde

The Horde is your basic unit when playing the dead, the Horde will constitute the majority of your actions. The Horde's strength is in its infinity, its weakness in its function and nature.

The horde is a unit that represents a vast convergence of the dead. To represent this the horde consists of 9 squares of dead. These 9 squares can form any shape you desire, from a 3x3 block to a 9 square long line. However every horde square mus share a border with at least 1 other horde square. The Horde is simple minded and will seek out the living with the purpose of feasting upon their flesh. When the living are within 10 squares of the Horde, the Horde are compelled to pursue, even if the last 2 squares in pursuit were wiped out by a trap. The Horde will not, however, pursue a person through fire or rapidly moving water.

Attacks

Every square of the Horde that is adjacent to one of the living may make one of two attacks against them.

Bite Attack: +2 against dodge, melee range 3 damage Secondary Effect: an attack against endurance, if it hits, the infection is spread to the target. Every noncombat round the target loses one hit point, the target may try, once every round to shake off the disease with an endurance roll with a dc of 7 +1 for every point of damage that

Grab attack: +2 against dodge, melee range 1 damage Secondary Effect: the target is pinned. A pinned target cannot take move actions, though it may take a standard action to escape the pin with an acrobatics check on its turn.

Against a barrier: +2 per square attacking The horde can direct its attention to breaking down a barrier, the dc varies depending on the type but a general rule of thumb is that most constructed barriers will range between a dc of 7 and 15, whereas actual construction work will (with exception of sheet rock) be well over 20.

SPECIAL RULE: If the horde has a target completely surrounded, meaning that the target has 1 horde square on every side of him, the horde's dice for attacks increases to a d20.

Damage to the Horde

Each square of the Horde has an effective 10 hit points, if those are depleted that square of the horde is destroyed. The horde is vulnerable to fire, and takes double damage from any fire based attack. The horde has a dodge value of 7 and a damage reduction of 0.

The horde regenerates one square per noncombat round at its spawn location
