MSFT:Aoaxaca
The Aoaxaca are a nation of tribal islanders. They were first discovered to be living in the Maranian Archipelago, previously thought to be a dead area. This was proven to be false in YK 334. The Aoaxaca mostly survive on fishing and a small amount of agriculture, although beasts of burden are rare. In contrast to the Father Kingdom, the Aoaxacans are a a matriarchal society. In an even more striking contrast, Aoaxacan society strongly promotes the use of blood sacrifices in their religion. Yet for all this, the Aoaxacans are generally peaceful. They, will, however, defend their homeland fiercely.
It is not known whether the Aoaxaca have other homes outside of the Maranian Archipelago, but there was an abandoned Aoaxacan temple on the coast of South Lylo. This is a rather far distance from the Archipelago, but it is not impossible, especially given the seafaring nature of the Aoaxaca. There appeared to be no other settlements in that part of South Lylo, but the ground seemed fertile. The Aoaxacan disappearance is a mystery to this day.
The expeditionary journal recommends that the Maranian Archipelago be avoided, as it has few riches. In addition, while a conflict is unlikely, such a conflict would be vicious and likely result in the death of any further expeditionary forces.
