The Angle
The Anglish Isles are set off from the rest of Legendia by the famed Anglish Channel. This has two specific side effects. One, the Angle is a microcosm of Legendia as a whole. Any and all types of people can be found within its borders. Two: as a rule, the Anglish are excellent sailors and navigators. No true Anglishman is afraid of the water. This often brings the Anglish into conflict with the Vikings the Fjordlands. The main city of Angle is Londong, where the King of all Angle has his court. Outside of Londong, most of the Angle is moderately settled, and various Dukes, Barons, Earls, Counts and other nobility fight amongst themselves to determine who is more powerful and/or who rocks harder. Many battles are not actually fought, but the nobility sponsors proxies to fight or put on a concert on their behalf. In the northern part of the Angle, the mighty Highlanders control a majority of the territory, and the feudal lords of Anglish society proper tend to leave them alone.
Londong
The capital city of the Angle. The city is built around the massive Castle, home to the King. There are plenty of other castles throughout Legendia, and even in the Angle itself, but none approach the might and grandeur of the Castle, which has no other name. The city, which is the largest in the known world, has many districts, from the high-class, to the working-class, to the rat-class. If there's anything you want, you can find it in Londong. And if you can't, you can certainly find someone who knows about it. And if all else fails, you can always hire someone to do it for you. Londong is a big, big place, and even those who have lived their whole lives in the city can still get lost if they leave their main neighborhood.
Le Franc
Across the Anglish Channel lies Le Franc. In many ways, Le Franc is similar to the Angle. There are a wide variety of people live within its borders, and the land is subdivided into fiefdoms for the nobility. Le Franc, however, is cultured. Beer drinking immediately marks one as scum, for real people drink wine. A Francour almost always identifiable by high-quality dress, and their manners are rivaled by nobody in all of Legendia. This is backed up by a strong dislike of non-Francours. Le Franc, however, does have its upsides. It is a relatively safe place to live, unless you are on the border with the EMPIRE. The finest food in the world comes from Le Franc, and everybody knows better to argue with a Francour chef. The main religion in Le Franc is worship of d'Arc, a mighty warrior that established Le Franc as it is today. Le Franc is ruled by the Sun King at Ils.
Ils
Where Londong might be the biggest city in the world, Ils is the richest. Vice-Versa, the seat of the Sun King, is an enormous palace, big enough to fit many rural villages within its walls. While it does not measure up to the Castle of the Anglish King in terms of military power, Vice-Versa far exceeds it in opulence and wealth. Those who are lucky enough to live within its walls do pay a steep price, though, as they are often servants of the Sun King. Outside of Vice-Versa, Ils is still a fine place to live. The taverns overflow with wine, and are often connected to some of the finest brothels in Legendia. Bards and performers roam the streets, looking to make a few coins here and there.
Proto-Italy
While Le Franc might be the richest area of Legendia, Proto-Italy comes in a close second. Cash is king in Proto-Italy, literally. A loose agglomeration of massive business ventures led by powerful Merchants. Some Merchants prefer to be public figures, but many others are private recluses, ruling by mysterious orders. In Proto-Italy, if it's profitable, it's a legitimate business...but stealing business from others might, in the end, not be all that profitable. There's not much law in Proto-Italy, but things tend to run fairly smoothly. There's a good chance the wheels are being greased pretty good, though. Proto-Italian food is almost as well regarded as Francour food, and travelers are often encouraged to eat as much as possible. On the surface, Proto-Italy is a nice place to be, but don't peel the cover back. It's a move often regretted -- for life.
The C
Within the independent companies of Proto-Italy, a small region stands alone, the C. The C is the holiest place in the Faith, the most widely practiced religion in Legendia. Powerful mystics and sages live at the C. Despite its holiness, most Faith followers never visit. The commands, precepts, and teachings of the C are disbursed throughout Legendia by the vast network of Churches. It is hotly debated whether or not God is a Nice Guy or a Bad Ass, and both sides have their arguments. Either way, True Believers in the Faith are not people to be messed with.
Iberia
Iberia is a war-ravaged land, with Faithful kingdoms banding together and trying to work past their differences to take back their homelands from the southern Barbarians. It is not a very friendly place to be. Those that do not follow the Faith are viewed with intense suspicion and assumed to be an enemy. On the other hand, those that do follow the Faith are viewed with intense suspicion and assumed to be an enemy by the Barbarians. Both the Barbarians and the Iberians consider the land to be rightfully theirs, along with all the wealth that is supposed to be there. As it stands right now, Iberia is rather poor because nobody can exploit the resources that may or may not be there. While it shares a border with Le Franc, the two regions have little to do with each other, although a small number of independent treasure hunters flow into Iberia on a regular basis.
Aegea
Aegea is a loose grouping of city-states that ally and war in a bizarre manner, totally incomprehensible to any non-Aegean. Faith is unknown in Aegea; the Aegean religion worships a multitude of gods with their own portfolio. The Aegean gods are said to have a strong presence in this world. How accurate this is is uncertain, but Aegean heroes are more than a match for anyone. The Aegeans are also the masters of the Medsea, the large body of water between the southern shores of Legendia and the Barbarian Coast. The Aegeans are generally peaceful towards outsiders, preferring to make money off of them than defeat them. Aegean soldiers are well trained and often hired out as mercenaries by various rulers across Legendia. Aegea also is home to several of Legendia's greatest athletes.
The Fjordlands
The Fjordlands are home to the Vikings, fierce warriors who are known far and wide. The Fjordlands have no central government, each small village being an entity unto itself. The Vikings are known to conduct raids for women and booze (and possibly just for fun) along the northern coasts of Legendia, and have even been known to reach down to Iberia. Their main rival is the Angle; Viking warships fight the Anglish navy on a semi-regular basis. In the Fjordlands, the women are more rugged than the men of most other places. Most of Viking society is predicated on fighting, partying, and honoring their gods, usually by fighting and partying. It is generally not advised to visit the Fjordlands unless you have a very heavy coat and very thick skin.
