"This one here," Raymond says, pointing to Shannon Dodson, "is one I heard the first day after we left our shelter. We'd hiked out far enough to find a vehicle, then drove into the nearest town, Brady Heights. We saw a man sitting on top of a building, looking well-equipped, and we managed to pick up on his radio. Dodson had been right, and they'd started to prepare to climb down but aborted for lack of time and equipment."

He shakes his head. "I'm not sure how amicable any of these people would normally be to making contact with civilians," he continues, looking to Valda for any kind of response. "But it was John who made radio contact with the group, and used his last name, Markson." His finger juts down next to that of Henry Markson. "There seemed to be active interest in getting together over the radio, but from what I heard afterward the man on the roof was quite cautious when he approached in person, who then ran off in panic when the clouds rolled in. Mike and John decided to get back with the rest of us, rather than give chase. We never found those people again."
