Wealth & Money
Since the development of the printing press, both the Sovereign Kingdoms and the Iron Empire have embraced printed currency, the Empire having adopted it later on account of needing to steal the designs for the printing press first.
A typical Kingdom note is 4 inches by 2 inches and varies in colour depending on denomination. Green bills are worth 10gp, blue bills are worth 100gp, red bills are worth 1,000gp and purple bills are worth 10,000gp.
Notes from the Empire are 3 inches square and are all black. The denomination is marked out in gold numbers, along with the Empire's emblem of an armoured fist. The denominations are 1gp, 10gp, 50gp, 100gp, 500gp and 1,000gp.
A single note is so light, it takes 500 to weigh a single pound.
Armor
| Aethersuit | Armor Bonus | Minimum Enhancement Bonus |
Check | Speed | Price (gp) | Weight |
| Dwarfsteel aethersuit | +9 | - | -3 | -3 | 60 | 80lb. |
| Wyrmscale aethersuit | +9 | +4 | -2 | -2 | special | 40lb. |
| Warpweave aethersuit | +12 | +6 | -1 | -1 | special | 20lb. |
Aethersuit: Heavy and rather restrictive, the aethersuit is not often used in most combat situations. Instead it is for totle protection against the harsh elements of wild space, holding back cosmic storms and the Aetherwarp during times of crisis. Less restrictive suits have been developed by dwarven engineers, but they are much more expensive than the basic model. All aethersuits provide Resist cosmic 10.

Ammunition: Firearms use bullets, which are formed from soft lead so they can be used aboard spacecraft without punching holes in the hull. Bullets come in sets of 10 and are kept in a pouch, much like sling bullets.
Anchor Rod: The anchor rod will cling tightly to any adjacent surface, allowing you to keep one's place in freefall. To remove an anchor rod from a surface, hold down the button on the tip.
Breath Mask: Unless wearing an aethersuit or under the affects of an aetherbreathing spell or ritual, avoiding suffocation from the aether requires the use of a breath mask, which provides an inextinguishable supply of air.
Contact Ring: Clipped to the ear, lip or hair, a contact ring allows you to communicate with anyone else wearing a contact ring within range. It translates voice into vibrations in the aether, which will fade away over incredibly long distances but allow for contact almost anywhere within a star system. Contact ring transmissions are public and can be heard by anyone wearing a contact ring, but there do exist special magical versions that can allow for secret communication.
Firestarter: A little device that uses phlogiston to create a small flame that can be used to light torches, fuses and suchlike. With infrequent use (once a day) it will last two months before needing a refill. With frequent use (5 times a day or more) it will last two weeks. Phlogiston refills can be purchased from most traders and merchants at a cost of 2gp.
Goggles: Used to shield the eyes from bright light, a danger when exploring around stars. Provide a +1 item bonus to saving throws against blindness.
Iron-Gel: When a ship is badly damaged, it can start leaking air. Using Iron-Gel (with a Machinery check) allows you to patch up the holes and stop the atmosphere loss, although you cannot repair damage in this manner.
Musical Instrument: Bards and other characters use instruments for art and entertainment. A nonmagical musical instrument confers no game benefit but can be enchanted later.
Reaction Pistol: A reaction pistol is used to propel yourself around in freefall. By pointing it in the opposite direction, it fires a sharp burst of compressed air, pushing you 6 squares (8 if Small). Firing it at someone at melee range will push them back 5 squares, and push you back 5 squares as well unless you are secured, or push you back normally on a miss. Because the reaction pistol needs to compress air to fire, it can only be used once per round. Using it counts as a minor action. A reaction pistol counts as a simple ranged weapon with a proficiency bonus of +2, similar to other guns and rifles.
Tinkertools: To use the Machinery skill properly, you need the right wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, and so on. Tinkertools grant a +2 bonus to Machinery checks.
Goods & Services
Docking Fees
When arriving at a spaceport, spaceships planning on staying a while need to pay fees to reimburse the dockmaster. Large ports in major cities generally have more space, so have lower costs. Landing outside a port is free, but runs the risk of your ship being vulnerable to infiltration.

Other Services
Cities will often have a printing works where printed items are produced. General works, like books and posters, cost a paltry sum for a large run. Ads in the local newspaper are a cheap but simple way of advertising for specialist services or wanted information. Additional crewmembers can also be hired to fill out the gaps in a spaceship's crew.

Special Materials
Meteor Iron
From the far-flung reaches of the cosmos, meteor iron can be used to forge the finest steel known. It readily soaks up the energies of the Aetherwarp and can be enchanted quite easily. See the list of magical items for more.
Necronite
Formed when planets die an unnatural death, necronite is a black crystal that radiates with necrotic energy. It can be used as a power source, like phlogiston (see below), but it is incredibly dangerous and exposure to the raw crystal will weaken and kill most forms of life.
Phlogiston
All stars are formed from phlogiston, which is potent liquid fire. It is harvested from stars by dwarven zonneboilers, which fly close and soak it up, and then bring it back. Being so useful, it is quite the commodity. One ton of phlogiston is worth 500gp, making it 4gp a pound, and is used by the Sovereign Kingdoms as spacecraft fuel. Certain magical items are imbued with phlogiston, giving them a searing aura of fire.
Primordium
The most ancient substance in the universe, primordium is the basis of all the cosmos itself. Found at the cores of planets and asteroids, it is a highly unstable, incredibly potent source of raw power. The Iron Empire mine for it, burning it like coal in the engines of their powerful spacecraft. It is also used to make expensive magical weapons for the hobgoblin elite.
Pullwood
Harvested from pullwood trees, an aether-dwelling plant that grows in large asteroid groves around green type stars, pullwood exerts its own gravitational pull, and can be turned into clothing fibres to produce gripboots or planks to provide ships with innate gravity. Because of its gravitational nature, it is tricky to work with, and therefore quite expensive. Only the most expensive ships have pullwood planking.
