Carriers of the Multitude

Osefians come from the world of Osefia, a planet at near-Imperial levels. Their regiments are constantly under-equipped, as the pre-existing tithes on raw materials and equipment does not allow the men to be equipped to Munitorum standards. They are let in under a special agreement with the Munitorum, wherein they raise 10 percent more than their tithe grade in exchange for accepting the low levels of equipment. This leads to regiments that are either able to do much with very little, or are desperate pillagers. The question is one that the Munitorum has not resolved in a three centuries-long investigation of their battle performance.

Their performance is decidedly average, only notable for their ferocious close-quarters fighting and disdain for artillery support. This disdain largely comes from the fact that no Osefian regiment has had integral artillery support in the last millennia and must always rely on other regiments for support. Since these other regiments often find their supplies pilfered by Osefians, these relations are normally strained.

Famous regiments:

  • 4th Osefians- Assigned as guides to the 18th Penal Legion, they lead the Legionaries to glorious death during the Skaralax Uprising and immediately stole the equipment from the dead. They developed the “Osefian Special” from undetonated penal collars.
  • 18th Osefians- Abandoned on Beatrice by the Rogue Trader Pater Winden, their descendants were found to still be fighting when the Pross Dynasty made a resource evaluation a century later. They were loaded aboard the Pross vessel and returned to Imperial service until their destruction on Tranch.
  • 24th Osefians- One of the few regiments to be decimated by the Commissariat for looting and to be lauded by Sector Command for bravery in the fighting against the Reign of Brass.
