Boons are rewards that have no physical presence, unlike artifacts, that are given to characters. Blessings from deities, the effects of a magic potion, or training in combat by an experienced master can all be boons of some kind. Sometimes they are temporary, other times not. Essentially they are extra traits, that can alter or expand upon a character's existing capabilities.
