Artifacts (9e)

Artifacts are rare and often mystical items that are unique and powerful, possessing traits that put them above the mundane. They can be cloaks of invisibility, ancestral swords, seeing stones, rings of power, or anything else that will control the focus of the game's narrative.

An artifact's trait budget depends on the DM's plans for its role, but unlike the usual equipment a character uses, artifacts can be disarmed from a character, stolen, lost, or otherwise restricted. Sometimes artifacts can be cursed, spread corruption, or have other negative effects to balance out the power they hold.
