PC Races

ADOM has ten primary races which are available for play. Each race costs either 0 points (for humans), or one of 10, 30, or 50 points to play as. Most are typical fantasy races, although with a slightly different bent to them than usual. Except dorfs. Everyone likes dorfs as they are.

Below is a simple description of each race, and the template they have. Read them carefully when considering which one to play.

Humans

See also: Any mirror. But for the purpose of the game, humans are one of the most diverse and widespread of races, occuring naturally everywhere in Ancardia. Born from uncorrupted Mana, they have the most base potential, but no real perks or flaws. Humans are almost always the minority of the area they're in, but they also maintain the best racial relations with everyone else, and a community of humans can be found anywhere, with the mighty Troll nomads of the frozen north, all the way to the reclusive Dwarven empires of the south.

Gnomes

Gnomes were born from the uncorrupted second element, the burning light of Fire. Hardy, focused, and shrew, the gnomes are best at ordered and analytical thinking, being excellent with numbers. Many are also well known as great healers and mages, and no race produces more elementalists (especially of the fiery variety). Far more comical and ready to smile than dwarves or elves, gnomes help bridge the gap between the more long-lived and mortal races, able to give each a lesson in how to better view life. Gnome bards are nearly a cliche' in the stories of many races.

Gnomes are a short people, often only attaining a height of four feet, though few go much below that. Their hair colors are simple, ranging from a shock-white, to slate gray, all the way to pitch black; brown is rare, and other colors are unheard of. Eye color is much more exotic, crossing a range of any gem-like color imaginable. Skin tends to be fair, and often a deep reddish-gray. Gnomes are not strong, but are built to last, so to speak, and rarely have terrible health.
